Copper (Male)
Our Story
Hello! I'm a 17 year old and I lost one of my Guinea pigs a two weeks ago. For context to this post I got 2 Guinea pigs named Loki and Copper from a local shelter when I was around 13 years old. I was going through a deppression and having them around brang me so much joy. We didnt know their ages but Loki seemed older and Copper was younger though they were given to the shelter together. After a year we got another Guinea pig named King. When I was 15 Loki passed in his sleep from old age. I had King and Copper now. We assumed that Copper may pass from old age soon sense we thought Copper and Loki were around the same age. One thing to note is my parents arnt the best parents sometimes. We had small cages and I felt guilty so I ordered much bigger cages on Chewy when I had enough money and my mom was in a good mood. A week ago on a Saturday I woke up to king squeaking loudly. I noticed his food wasnt eaten and he hadnt drank anything. I freaked out and brang him to my parents. We try to give him food and he wouldnt eat it even his favorites which were Carrots, Treats, Grapes (The grapes we also bit open so he could drink the juices cause he perfered them that way.) We got apple sauce and fed him some. We thought he was constipated but I still cried all day holding him. Then later that night he passed. I made sure he was comfortable and in the dark of a comfy place. The bigger cages came in the day after King died. My last Guinea pig Copper is lonely. I know Guinea pigs are social creatures and without company they will stop eating. I cant get another Guinea pig as I am going to college after next year and will have to give them up anyway. I also do not trust my parents enough to keep up with my Guinea pigs while I'm gone. I love my baby Copper so much and I dont want him to suffer in a cage alone. I have been for the past week posting on facebook, Calling local Shelters but only the ones that look nice (Even if they are 30 minutes out), called friends seeing if someone will take him. I feel extremely guilty. No one has responded yet and Honestly I dont know what to do. Hes stopped eating his Hay and has been drinking only a little. I am heavily concerned.
