Copper & Silver - Serious Situation

For a long time, I wanted to get pet guinea pigs. Only a little while ago was when I finally brought two males into my home. Copper (white with patches of red/brown) and Silver (salt/pepper and white) came from Petsmart and are both very healthy little guys.

Copper is kind of skittish when it comes to being picked up and held and occasionally tries to bite, but he's never been successful in all his foolish attempts. His favorite afternoon is the one he can spend laying in his hammock. (I sewed a fleece hammock that I could hang up on their loft. Both boys like to take turns lounging in it.) Copper always likes to keep moving and therefore finds it hard to hold still through grooming sessions. He has short fur that sheds excessively in Spring and early Summertime.

Silver enjoys a long cozy snuggle wrapped up in soft, warm blankets (not when it's warm out!) and he'll sit patiently while I brush his fur, but he cries whenever it's time for a claw trim because once when he was younger, I slipped and cut too much off...he's all healed now but still never forgave me. When I first got him, he would sit in my hair, but he stopped about a year ago and hasn't shown signs of returning to his old habit since then. He's the one with a little bit of long fur in the back which stays clean as long as I keep brushing it regularly. I used to trim it but decided not to anymore, but that doesn't mean you can't. He doesn't mind either way. They get along so well, which especially surprised me when the small fight they got into in the spring was so easily resolved using the power of lettuce. I'm not certain what kind of dominance system they have, only that everything works out in the long run.

Neither of them are neutered, so please keep them far away from females! They're doing fine together and any contact with a female with change their relationship with each other forever.

-Two hideouts (one for each guinea pig)

(There are several other items I own, such as a smaller habitat and a litter box from a failed attempt to litter train them. I also have a homemade run as seen in the pictures.)

Remember, guinea pigs need love, and I've been forced to neglect them in that way. More than anything I want to hold them like I used to, but the newly discovered allergy means all my interaction with them must be kept to a minimum. They're good boys and deserve only the best.
