Two male guinea pigs - 3 yrs old

We have had the guinea pigs for two years. They were being fostered and needed a home quickly. We were told they were about a year old then but no additional history was available. We had them seen by a vet, who said they were healthy unneutered males. They do not bite and tolerate being held but will not come to you themselves. They seem to get along with each other although they do "argue" over food occasionally. We feed them Oxbow hay and Vita Prima food for guinea pigs. After much trial and error, we use natural paper bedding in the 42"x28" cage. They have two water bottles and two hides. They were our first guinea pigs although we are a multi-dog, lizard, turtle family. If you are considering guinea pigs for your children, please research carefully. Their cages and water need to be freshened often and they eat their food every day. If anyone in the family has allergies, the hay or the guinea pigs themselves may be a trigger. The cage, water bottles, and any food or hay we have left will go with the boys.
