Our Story

We adopted Bach from our neighbor, who had acquired him from their grandma. They had made the mistake of adopting a boy and a girl, who of course had babies and the mom and babies died. Bach was living in an enclosure under my neighbor's deck. My kids were interested in him and we took care of him while they were on vacation, and they offered to let us adopt him. I soon learned all about what guinea pigs need and realized he needed a friend. I obviously needed another male and was nervous they wouldn't get along. But luckily Bach is SUPER chill. I tried to adopt a guinea pig from a rescue, but after promising him to me, the rescue allowed one of their volunteers to take him instead. That put a bad taste in my mouth for the rescue so we adopted a baby from a pet store. Nibbles really helped liven Bach up and they get along well. Nibbles is the more skittish of the two but is mellowing with age. The first owners built a large enclosure that we still use. Bach is dark brown with some white and Nibbles is tri-color.

Rehoming because

I need to rehome my guinea pigs because our family life has changed since adopting a golden retriever last December. My children, and the neighborhood children, are no longer interested in the guinea pigs, and keeping up with their cleaning needs has become more and more burdensome since my work hours have increased. I really feel like adopting a pair of senior pigs would be great for a first pet, because it would be a low commitment in terms of length, as many kids are known to lose interest quickly.
