Meet Baxter and Gaston!

Baxter is a young brown agouti, cream, and white Abyssinian. He is about 1.5 years old.
Baxter was found dumped in a group of six guinea pigs. He was one of two males, and was bullied by the other male to the point of having many cuts on his backend.
He was very scared of all male pairing attempts until we found Gaston, a very calm mature male.
Baxter is the more energetic male in the pair and loves to TALK! He wheeks every chance he gets! While we think he may still have some trauma from being bullied, he is a very light hearted innocent soul.

Gaston is a silver agouti and white Abyssinian. We estimate he is about 3-4 years old. Other than color, he looks like he could be related to Baxter! But they are completely unrelated.
Gaston was a single male that Bramble Berry Cavy Refuge (now merged with TWAR) took in from the Humane Society. He doesn’t have much of a history, but does have a slightly labored breathing pattern. We associated this with possible poor air quality at this original home, but there’s always the possibly of different issues. It hasn’t affected him to the point of needing to be on any medication however.
Gaston is a cool, calm and collected boy. He is the chill one of the pair, making Baxter feel safe and unthreatened.
While Baxter may sometimes still feel scared sometimes, it’s normally short lived, irrational fear from his experiences. Gaston has never shown why malice towards his friend. Most of the time he could care less, ha.

From the foster home:

“Gaston has really gotten used to nose rubs and even now lets me rub his back and behind his ears when I reach into the cage without running instantly away! Baxter tolerates nose rubs some of the time, we are still working on it. I mean he would talk a bit at first, but now sometimes he is so chatty when you walk in the room when something is out like a water bottle or the food dish or sometimes just to chat I think!”

We can meet within 1 hour of Minneapolis or Lakeville, MN for adoptions. Potentially further- please inquire and we can discuss!
