Our Story

Almond (orange and white):
Almond is extremely social and tame. He will come to the end of the cage for scritches. If you’re holding him and he feels you’re not paying enough attention to him, he will gently tug on your shirt. If he is finished interacting with you for that moment he will simply ignore you.

He is extremely stupid with life but is brilliant with puzzles. When offered a puzzle, he will decide if he cares enough to do it or if he’s too lazy to. If he decides it’s not worth getting up, nothing will change his mind.

Almond likes to be fed on time. If you are late, he will wheek loudly. Please note that being late is on his terms. 20 minutes early may be late if he decides it is.

If you wake him up from a nap, he will give you the stink eye before going back to his nap and ignoring your subsequent attempts to get his attention.

He is not a huge fan of fancy, expensive toys but will be thrilled if you crumple up a piece of paper and throw it in his cage. He is also fond of paper bags and pieces of cardboard.

As with most orange animals, Almond often has people wondering if there is even a single brain cell in his head. What he lacks in brains, he makes up for in his large personality.

Hook (Black and white):

Hook is fondly called a grumpy old man. He is getting on in his years but is active. He loves his sleep.

Hook is still learning to trust and is not quite as open with his want to be pet as Almond is. He will peak out of the door of a hide when Almond is asking for them pretending that he doesn’t want them too. He loves being hand fed and is not picky with food at all.

His biggest flaw is that he’s a pushover. If allowed, Almond will block the pellets from Hook and Hook will wait until Almond is finished before he eats. This is easily avoided by putting the 2 bowls separate from each other or by scatter feeding.

Hook loves the shade. If the sun is shining over the cage he will wait it out in a hide. He will grumble at the sun to get it to stop, fully expecting it to work. It never does.

Despite having a rocky past, Hook has come out the other end a caring little guy that loves cuddles as long as you watch his body language and cues.
