Sweet and friendly 2yr old American pig

B Updated

Our Story

Athena is a two and a half year old guinea pig with short brown and white hair, I believe of the American guinea pig breed. She is an absolute sweetheart, and took to her companion pig right off the bat. .

She loves fresh veggies (or apples, when she's in the mood for a treat) and never fails to popcorn and perk up when it's time to lay out some fresh hay for her. A little bit shy by nature, she isn't always in the mood to be pet right away, but can usually be cooed at and slowly talked to until comfortable with some petting and/or lap time.

Speaking of lap time, I've found Athena to be one of the most relaxed pigs I've ever kept when sitting or laying down to hold her. I recently put on a movie and laid down with Athena resting on my chest, and she was content to stay there, cuddling, for nearly 45 minutes without complaint -- even turning herself around to watch the movie with me (a behavior I hadn't seen in any pigs I've personally owned before, it was really neat!)

I haven't had Athena as long as some of my other pigs, but she's been a true joy around my home, and it's going to be very emotionally difficult to let her go, but I know its the right decision. I have no doubt that if you're a guinea pig lover, you will adore this sweet, relaxed pig.

I can offer all of the following habitat items and accessories courtesy with adoption:

Small plastic castle-themed hut for shelter Two PetCo wire cages with no bottoms (may be appreciated by the pigs as a supplement to a larger, wider habitat for shelter) One or two plastic water bottles with anti-leak ball mechanisms (the usual) A few small toys she likes, including some wooden blocks and a wicker ball (chew toys) All of my remaining hay and pellet feed at the time of adoption

Rehoming because

Athena's bonded partner, Penny, passed away two months ago suddenly and with little warning, leaving Athena without any companions. With that in mind, I'm looking for a loving, caring home where Athena will have companions and have a happy, long life ahead of her.
