Double the Squeaks! - Bonded Female Pair

K Updated

Our Story

Maple and Pumpkin, a bonded pair of 2-year-old female guinea pigs looking for their forever home!

Maple: The outgoing explorer of the duo. While she is brave and active, she prefers to interact on her own terms and may play a little "catch me if you can" when it’s time for pets.

Pumpkin: A bit shyer at first, but she is the one who truly enjoys a good scratch behind the ears.

Personality & Quirks: The "Veggies Alarm": These girls have a built-in clock! If their fresh greens are even a few minutes late, they will let out loud, happy squeaks to remind you. They also "wheek" in pure excitement the moment they hear you approaching with their snacks.

Social Dynamics: They are a bonded pair that loves their space. They enjoy having their own hideys but will occasionally snuggle up together in the same one. They especially love "blanket tents" for a cozy afternoon chill.

Exercise is Key: Like all roommates, they can get a little "moody" if their space feels too cramped. Pumpkin, in particular, may pick small spats if she hasn't had enough exercise. Giving them floor time even once a week keeps them happy and best friends.

Care Requirements: To keep Maple and Pumpkin thriving, their new family should be prepared for:

Diet: A constant supply of high-quality hay, fresh daily veggies, and pellets. I also like to dehydrate strawberries for them as an example of a occasional treat. Their Vitamin C is typically obtained by vegetables, but they also have the occasional vitamin c tablet if they have a vegetable day with less than the needed Vitamin C.

Maintenance: Daily spot-cleaning of their habitat to keep them comfortable. Weekly deeper cleaning and bedding change unless it is needed earlier.

Health: They have been receiving annual check-ups with an exotic animal veterinarian.

Space: They are currently in the clear GuineaLoft enclosure and should not be moved into anything smaller than their current enclosure to prevent bickering. They are in a 2 x 4, but if desired additional panels and items can be purchased to further customize their existing setup. Everything You Need Included – $50 Adoption. I want to ensure their transition is as smooth as possible, so everything I have for them will be included. Such as, but not limited to: Their current large enclosure and bedding. Travel cases for safe transport. Various floor-time enclosures for supervised running around. All remaining food, hay, treats, and their favorite hideys/tents.

Maple and Pumpkin may need a little time to warm up to their new humans, but with a bit of patience (and some lettuce!), they will be the most rewarding companions. If you are ready to give these girls the love they deserve, please reach out!

Rehoming because

I am heartbroken to have to rehome my sweet guinea pigs, but it has become a necessity for my health and an upcoming life change. I have a severe allergy to Timothy hay. While I switched them to Orchard Grass to manage the symptoms, I am still struggling with persistent allergic reactions. Additionally, I am moving 20 hours away to a much smaller living space where I can no longer maintain the separate environment they need to keep the allergens contained. My priority is finding them a loving home where they can get the attention they deserve without compromising my health.
