Thank you for choosing rescue. We are a small foster home-based organization located in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach and are now serving the Hampton Roads area. We adopt to families within a four-hour radius.
All our animals are fully vetted and healthy before adoption. Females guinea pigs are placed on 10-week pregnancy watch and our cats/dogs are also spayed/neutered, dewormed and fully vaccinated. Our goal is twofold – to provide homeless pets with loving homes and provide judgement-free advice to their well-intentioned human family members to facilitate the happily ever after. We find that guinea pigs are commonly incorrectly perceived as “starter pets” for kiddos, and given up or abandoned when it becomes clear that they can be higher maintenance, more expensive or more fragile than expected. It’s also why one of our main goals at Cavies and Canines is education – we want your family to find a pet that is the perfect fit for them … a win-win for everyone! Adoption fees for guinea pigs are $35 for a single (to go to a home with an existing same-sex mate) and $50 for a pair. We also offer our foster pigs' cages and accessories and discounted rates. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment to an animal that will be your loving companion and your best friend. Our goal is to keep animals in loving homes and off the streets and out of shelters. Please note that we recognize that circumstances change and our goal is always the well-being and safety of our adopted animals. We will take back our animals at any time, no questions asked.
Sorry, NO. Please do not contact the owner and ask about shipping guinea pigs. It is NOT possible. Please look for guinea pigs LOCAL to you! That's what this site is for--helping you find a guinea pig close to home to adopt and love.
But I want THAT one!
Yes, that one is adorable and looks just like the one you must have for your very important reason or you will not be able to go on living. But, there are many more in your area that are just as wonderful. Perhaps they are not listed here, but they can be found. The piggy in need waiting for you near your own back yard might look a little different, but could melt your heart anyway!
