Rehoming a 3 y’o Male Guinea pig named Chunk

R Updated

Our Story

My first pair of Guinea pigs were store bought ~4 years ago, I wasn't very well informed on the ethical side of things and I still regret buying them from a pet store (Petco), but they meant the world to me and I brought them home. One of the girls I got was already pregnant without me knowing, and gave birth to 4 guineas who I decided to keep. I was 16 and didn’t realize that I didn’t have the emotional bandwidth nor extra resources to take care of 6 guinea pigs, but I tried my best.

One of them was named Chunk, his brothers were named Chester and Monk. Due to the nature of their birth they weren’t really born all that healthy. As it stands, Chester and Monk have passed away. Monk was his bonded pair, who is not with me anymore as of yesterday.

I am not in a state to take care of him anymore. All of my guineas mean the absolute world to me, so I am desperate to make sure he lives out the rest of his life the best way possible.

About Chunk specifically, he’s a bit dense but he’s very calm, though easily offended like most guineas. Overall he’s very sweet and full of personality. His favorite veggie is green bell pepper and his favorite occasional fruit treat are blueberries. He was born with a sort of hind leg defect, which has made his back legs weaker than his front since he was a newborn. I’m not sure what it is specifically, but it doesn’t cause him pain. It just makes obstacles harder to move around sometimes, so please make sure you can accommodate.

Rehoming him was an extremely difficult decision for me to make, so I might be cautious about who applies for him. But I am very desperate to get him into a new loving home, he means everything to me. I cannot take another guinea pig passing away in coming years. Thank you for reading and considering 💙

Rehoming because

His bonded brother passed away yesterday, and my mental health is plummeting while taking care of another guinea pig of mine who is in end of life care. I cannot adopt a new male guinea pig, and I cannot take care of him adequately anymore, and need someone who is willing to love him to take him in.

I absolutely need whoever is interested in him to have another male guinea pig he can bond with and to be willing to love him till the end of his life.
