We recently adopted a 1.5-year old female guinea pig but need to rehome her because my daughter has a severe allergic reaction to her. She (the guinea pig, not my daughter) is unbelievably sweet, docile, and quiet, but extremely shy in that she always seeks cover (under a box, hidey, inside my shirt, even under my hair). She will sit calmly on your lap, chest, even next to your cheek, for long periods of time while you pet her and she has never bitten or shown any aggression. We call her “Moumou”, which is short for “Moufette” the French word for skunk because her coloring resembles that of a skunk.
I will only adopt her out to someone who already has a female guinea pig(s) or a neutered male piggie and a sufficiently large cage setup. They also must have a full knowledge of what it takes to care for a guinea pig and be located relatively near to us so I can have her introduced to the guinea pig(s) to make sure they get along before I leave her with you. I’m concerned that due to her submissive, meek personality, she may be bullied by her cagemate(s) or that they may not leave her any food because she sits and waits under cover until she feels safe.
I cannot convey to you how sweet, adorable and angelic this guinea pig is, you will have to see her for yourself to believe it. I will wait for the right person to come along because Moumou is truly special and deserves only the best.
Sorry, NO. Please do not contact the owner and ask about shipping guinea pigs. It is NOT possible. Please look for guinea pigs LOCAL to you! That's what this site is for--helping you find a guinea pig close to home to adopt and love.
Yes, that one is adorable and looks just like the one you must have for your very important reason or you will not be able to go on living. But, there are many more in your area that are just as wonderful. Perhaps they are not listed here, but they can be found. The piggy in need waiting for you near your own back yard might look a little different, but could melt your heart anyway!
